What is Anxiety?

Anxiety disorders are more common than you may think,  one in seven people (14% of the population) report having had an anxiety disorder in the last 12 month.  Women are more likely to report suffering from an anxiety disorder than men, 18% versus 11%.  4326.0 - National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing: Summary of Results, 2007.  


Anxiety is a normal emotion, however, if anxiety is out of proportion to the situation and/or persists in the absence of a threat, you may need professional help.  Anxiety can vary from mild discomfort to crippling panic.  At Lovett Psychology, I offer a multi-therapy approach to help you attain the skills and strategies to reduce anxiety symptoms and to cope with everyday life in a more relaxed way.
